(one suggestion is to use a BMD mini monitor thunderbolt to HDMI)īut until something better comes along we too use VLC I too would like to see a good alternative to VLCĮspecially around issues of locking FPS between computer and projector #PLAYBACKPRO PLAY MP4 MOVIE#I volunteer for a small movie theater in brooklyn NY "The Spectacle"Īnd we show all sorts of films from terrible sources (mp4, avi, MKV, prores, etc etc) Seamless playback is of course our primary concern for our guest and filmmakers.Īny thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I understand VLC is a free, non-pro software, but the ability to drag in multiple files, multiple file types and in-house made media and play them in succession, is the most important element for us here. #PLAYBACKPRO PLAY MP4 SOFTWARE#He also suggested we use SWITCH by Telestream as our playback software alternative to VLC. Our screenings have been glitchy, torn and loaded with sync issues, thus the need for change.Ī colleague has recommended that we purchase a BM Mini Monitor(in route) to help with all the different file types we get and help properly buffer playbacks. We have been using Mac Mini's and VLC out to either Epson or Christie(DCP) Projectors. #PLAYBACKPRO PLAY MP4 UPGRADE#We host many film festivals through out the year and are looking to upgrade our "shorts block" programming this year. I work in a multi auditorium movie theater. To playback MOV files created by Pearl-2, we recommend using a newer media player.First timer here. Not all media players and editors support all recording formats, such as the more modern MP4-fragmented format. #PLAYBACKPRO PLAY MP4 MP4#Google Chrome 37+ (works with MOV and MP4 files using H.264 codec).See Troubleshooting Quick Reference for known player issues. Tested media playersĮpiphan has tested recordings with the following players. If there is no available space left in the internal storage on Pearl-2, new recordings fail and do not overwrite recordings in the AFU queue.įor information about recording to Content Management Systems (CMSs) like Kaltura and Panopto, see CMS recording and webcasting control. If recordings are selected for Automatic File Upload (AFU) while AFU is at maximum upload capacity or when AFU is unavailable, the recordings are added to an upload queue. While actively recording a multiple-channel recorder, a new file is created if an additional video input source is added to the recorder. When the local drive is full, newer recordings overwrite oldest recordings. When the time or file size limit is reached, the current recording is saved and a new recording file starts automatically without losing any content. The default recording limits are set to 30 minutes or 500 MB, whichever comes first. You can set the maximum recording time or file size limit using the Admin panel. If the channel that is recording is an auto channel, a new recording is started if the video input source automatically switches from one video source to another due to signal loss. Physically unplugging a video source from the input port or otherwise interrupting the signal does not stop recording. If an accidental system shutdown occurs while recording is in progress, your recordings are gracefully closed off so they are still playable. Using the Single Touch feature, you can control recording of all your channels and recorders with one touch of the touch screen, see About Single Touch streaming and recording. You can also setup multi-track recorders, see Recorders. Pearl-2 also comes with APIs so you can setup third party tools to control recording, see the Pearl System API Guide for details. Easily stop and start recording using any of the local user interfaces as well as remotely: You can record a channel on Pearl-2 as AVI, MOV, MPEG-TS, MP4, or MP4-Fragmented. ![]()
